In my last travel to Japan, I captured great forest landscapes and traditional Japanese Jinja. Then I have attempted to draw a forest scene with only marker. Everything worked out quit well but it was extremely hard in the process. Since you cannot change marker drawing, so you have to plan your process from the beginning.
Using light marker to pinpoint the general shape and gradually use darker marker to add shadows and details. I also cheated a little by using white watercolor to add highlights at the end. The overall result was good but the composition can be adjusted. (I can move the stone figure more towards right so that it is not align with the tree, suggested by my studio art professor George) This was a great attempt, and I will keep developing my style of marker drawing in the future.
